Marie Marseille, a local nurse and die-hard New York sports fan, was inside her home on Saturday night, riding the high of the New York Knicks winning their first NBA championship in 53 years. Her beloved Golden Saint Berdoodle, Jamison, was right there with her, even dressed up for the big win in his very own Knicks jersey. But the joy inside that apartment was immediately shattered when LAPD officers responded to a call at the complex and ended up pulling a trigger on her fur baby.

So what the heck exactly happened? Well, the drama started outside when a neighbor dialed 911 to report loud voices and what they thought was a domestic dispute between two women. When LAPD officers knocked on Marseille’s door, they found no fight, just a nurse winding down from a basketball game. According to Marseille, she opened the door and told officers, “Oh no, it’s just me.” That’s when police spotted the large dog inside. An officer directed her to “put the dog away,” and Marseille agreed right away, telling them, “Yeah, no problem.” But before she could secure him, Jamison slipped past her out the door and started walking toward one of the officers.
Now, instead of trying to calm the dog down or tell him to sit, within seconds, gunfire echoed through the condo complex. Marseille says Jamison wasn’t aggressive, wasn’t barking, and didn’t even bare his teeth, he was simply moving in the officer’s direction.
Sadly, the next thing she knew, her gentle giant was bleeding out on the pavement in his basketball jersey. Cell phone video captured the heartbreaking moments immediately after the shooting, showing Marseille completely distraught and sobbing over Jamison’s body.
As the video continues to circulate and the community demands accountability, the Los Angeles Police Department has remained largely silent. Local news outlets reached out to the department for an official statement or an explanation of the officer’s actions, but the LAPD has yet to respond to requests for comment.
