Listen… even the coolest celebs can lose their composure when they meet greatness. And that’s exactly what happened when Sterling K. Brown came face-to-face (again) with the forever iconic First Lady, Michelle Obama.
The Emmy-winning actor recently popped up on the podcast IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson with his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe, and let’s just say… the man turned into a whole fan, rightfully so.
During the March 11 episode had Brown, 49, reminiscing about the first time he met the former first lady, now 62, and the story had everybody cracking up.
According to Brown, the moment happened years ago while he was working on the Lifetime drama Army Wives, where he appeared from 2007 to 2013. During that time he ran into Mrs. Obama, and what started as a simple hug turned into a full-blown moment he clearly hasn’t recovered from.
Brown explained that the Becoming author “locked into him” during the embrace, and he just lost it from there. Brown joked that the moment mad him feel very “loved and seen” as “she held me in her arms” at the time.
Now while Brown was reliving this life-changing moment like a proud superfan, his wife was sitting right there remembering it a little differently. Bathe quickly reminded everyone she was not exactly amused back then.
She chimed in to admit she was “so mad” at the time of the hug.
Brown, clearly entertained by her side-eye energy, laughed while recalling the situation.
“The more I stayed, the more angry she became,” Brown jokingly said as he looked back at his wife’s reaction to the tight embrace.
Still, Brown made it very clear that the day ranks high on his personal highlight reel.
“It was one of the greatest days of my life,” he quipped.
And just when everyone thought the story couldn’t get funnier, Obama’s brother, Craig Robinson, came out with a little surprise: a framed photo of the exact moment Brown was talking about.
Brown instantly lost it. The This Is Us star jumped up out of his chair like he just won the lottery.
“Don’t hurt yourself,” Robinson laughed as Bathe and Obama had shocked looks on their faces. Meanwhile Brown was living his best life.
