Welp, Twitter is turning into flames and so is Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket. This Thursday, they launched the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built. The Starship—which plans to one day take passengers to the moon and Mars—attempted to launch into space this morning but had some trouble while in the air.
Minutes after a successful liftoff, the vessel exploded. According to ABC News, it experienced “a rapid unscheduled disassembly” and exploded before the rocket could make it to space. “As if the flight test was not exciting enough, Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly before stage separation,” SpaceX tweeted after the explosion.
Despite that, Mr. Musk congratulated the SpaceX team for “an exciting test launch” and said on his platform Twitter that he had “Learned a lot for next test launch in a few months.”
Congrats @SpaceX team on an exciting test launch of Starship!

The spacecraft that took off from Starbase — the SpaceX spaceport in Boca Chica, Texas — was expected to drop its first-stage Super Heavy booster into the Gulf of Mexico. From there, it was supposed to continue eastward to complete a near-circle of the Earth before splashing down near Hawaii.
SpaceX tweeted, “With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s test will help us improve Starship’s reliability as SpaceX seeks to make life multi-planetary.” The company added, “Congratulations to the entire SpaceX team on an exciting first integrated flight test of Starship!”

This comes just days after its first highly anticipated launch was scrapped due to a another problem. On Monday, Elon Musk’s explained why SpaceX was forced to delay its first launch attempt of the giant rocket. He said the spacecraft which is designed to carry cargo and people to the moon and Mars, had a “pressurant valve” that appeared to be frozen.” He said at the time, “so unless it starts operating soon, no launch today.”
It was said that SpaceX has more boosters as well as spacecraft lined up for more test flights. Musk plans to fire them off quickly, so he can start using Starships to launch satellites into low-Earth orbit and then put people on board, per the Associated Press.
