“It’s Not Easy to Think You May Not Be Here”—Coach Prime Gets Real About His Health Battle
Socialites, prayers up for Coach Prime. On Sunday, Deion Sanders shared an emotional video detailing just how serious his health journey has been lately.
The video, recorded back on May 9, showed the 57-year-old sitting in a hospital bed, getting candid about a moment that many of us don’t want to face.
“Last night was tough, yesterday was tough,” Sanders shared. “Because I had to make a will. It’s not easy at all to think that you may not be here.” He posted the vulnerable clip with a caption letting fans know something even bigger is coming: “Press conference tomorrow at 11am Mountain Time #CoachPrime

Deion Sanders Says He’s “Back and Feeling Great” After Health Setback
Although the video was from May, Sanders recently updated fans last week with much more hopeful news. Speaking to ESPN during Big 12 Media Days on July 9, the Colorado Buffaloes head coach told reporters he’s bounced back and is ready for the new season.
“I’m already back,” Sanders said with a smile. “I’m here today. I’m handling my responsibilities. So, I look forward to it. I can’t wait. You’ve got to understand, some of the young (players) I haven’t even met yet. I’m so excited about that.”
Deion’s always been about discipline, legacy, and staying ten toes down through adversity—but behind the scenes, he’s been battling real-life struggles that would’ve knocked most folks out.
This next chapter of his recovery is especially meaningful as he enters Year 3 leading the Colorado Buffaloes football program, a position he’s embraced with heart, spirit, and full swag.
Coach Prime Has Been Quiet About His Health—Until Now
What a lot of folks don’t realize is that Deion’s been silently fighting for years. From serious blood flow issues in his leg to multiple surgeries, the Hall of Famer has never let on just how intense his medical battles have been.
He’s previously had to undergo amputation of toes, and even came close to losing his entire leg due to complications from blood clots and infections. But true to form, he kept most of the pain private—until now.
This emotional video is the first real glimpse into how dark things got. And for Coach Prime to open up like this? That says everything. He’s not just back on the field. He’s here to inspire—and finally ready to tell his full story.

Whether you’re a die-hard Buffs fan or simply inspired by Sanders’ journey, there’s no denying the man’s impact stretches far beyond the field.
He’s always been a game-changer. Now, he’s showing us what real strength looks like off the field too.
