Young Thug Dad Speaks On Gunna And Snitching Claims After Taking Plea Deal In YSL RICO Trial

Oop! Young Thug‘s dad is speaking on his YSL artist and former YSL RICO trial co-defendant Gunna and the snitching claims against him after the rapper was released from jail having copped a plea deal.

As we previously reported, in May 2022, Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, and Gunna, born Sergio Kitchens, were among 28 individuals named in a 56-count indictment spearheaded by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. The 88-page document claims they’re allegedly associated with the Atlanta-based Young Slime Life (YSL) gang. That same month, both rappers were taken into custody and placed in Fulton County Jail.

The criminal street gang is accused of cumulatively committing 182 “overt acts” in furtherance of the conspiracy, including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft, drug dealing, carjacking, and witness intimidation.

Thug is indicted on two counts: racketeering, and participating in a criminal street gang activity. He’s alleged to have committed 36 “overt acts,” including six stemming from two traffics involving him and Gunna; one from an older felony charge of receiving stolen property; one involving him renting a vehicle allegedly used in the commission of a murder; and another related to his alleged “terroristic threat” to a mall security guard. Thug’s other counts are related to: lyrics from 10 different songs; remarks made on 11 social media posts; and comments made on six private communications between him and his associates.

Meanwhile, Gunna is indicted on only one count of conspiracy. However, he is implicated in 10 “overt acts,” including six acts related to two traffic stops with Young Thug; lyrics from three songs; and one social media post.

In December 2022, Gunna was released from Fulton County Jail after entering an Alford Plea to a racketeering charge. After copping his plea deal, Gunna was ordered to a four-year suspended sentence and 500 hours of community service. Additionally, upon submitting an Alford Plea, a defendant can plead guilty to a charge while personally maintaining their innocence.

After Gunna was seen taking his plea in court, social media immediately went up in flames and began accusing him of snitching on Young Thug and the rest of the YSL co-defendants. However, Gunna has maintained his innocence on being a snitch. He’s stated publicly that he has not given any information to the prosecutors and will not be aiding in their investigation. Since his release, he’s also shouted “Free Jeffery” on numerous occasions.

Gunna’s attorney, Steve Sadow, also echoed his comments after Gunna was released from jail in December 2022. Sadow said, “After reading Ms. Wicker’s outstanding, insightful article, I am obliged to say for the record one more time: Gunna has never been interviewed by or cooperated with law enforcement or prosecutors in the RICO case. Nor have his attorneys proffered information on his behalf. What was said at his Alford plea hearing was solely to resolve his own case. It cannot be used by the prosecution against Young Thug or any defendant.”

Since copping his plea and being released from jail, Gunna has been outside, dropping new music and even selling out concerts all while social media remains conflicted on whether or not he snitched on Young Thug. While Thug remains behind bars, his father recently did an interview and was caught clearing the air on where the family stands with Gunna.

In the interview with Infamous Sylvia, Jeffery Williams Sr. was asked how he feels about Gunna. He simply replied, “I love Gunna,” and then continued to explain that Gunna’s actions hadn’t done any harm to his son. He said, “Gunna hasn’t done anything whatsoever that can hurt us on this case. Period.”
