The woke mob and the mainstream media want Jason Aldean canceled. Yesterday.
The country star’s recent track, “Try That in a Small Town,” caught fire this month after many overlooked the spring release. The song offers a powerful rejoinder to the “mostly peaceful” riots that roiled the nation three years ago and, to an extent, still happen today.
- Buildings set ablaze
- Businesses razed
- Entrepreneurial dreams destroyed
The press either looked the other way or cheered it all on. CNN’s Chris Cuomo infamously asked, “show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful.”
Aldean finally had enough.
Cuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
Yeah, ya think you’re tough
Well, try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
The song was instantly attacked by the Left and the press, but we repeat ourselves. It’s racist, foments violence and is pro-lynching.
It’s aggressive, no doubt, but it’s about protecting one’s family, the community at large and the officers who risk their lives to ensure the public’s safety.

It’s also part of a musical tradition where songwriters capture the soul, the sentiment of the times through a voice that may not be their own. You can Google “violent rap lyrics” and find countless examples of tracks suggesting far worse behavior.
That may be why Tulsi Gabbard weighed in on the controversy.
The former Congresswoman shared her full support for Aldean on her Instagram page.

The outrage around @jasonaldean’s “Try That in a Small Town” is the latest round fired in the “woke” war against freedom. Their attacks reveal the Democrat elite’s true values – violent looters during BLM protests can run free, but a song about respecting the flag & taking care of your neighbors is heresy and must be cancelled.
No equivocation here.
The public clearly has Aldean’s back, too. The song is suddenly a smash.
“Try That in a Small Town,” which was released in May, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week just behind BTS’s Jung Kook solo single “Seven,” featuring Latto. The track experienced the biggest sales week for a country song in over 10 years.
According to Luminate, the song hit 11.7 million on-demand audio and video streams between July 14 and 20, marking a 1,000% increase from the previous week. Prior to the music video release on July 14, the track accounted for 987,000 streams in the U.S.
CMT removed the song’s video from its lineup in deference to the woke Left’s rage against it.
Gabbard, who ran for the presidency in 2020, found one prominent critic on her Instagram page. Far-left rocker Jack White left this nonsensical response to her post.
