Socialites, let’s take a moment to send extra prayers to LeBron James and his family as it’s just being reported that his 18-year-old son Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday.
According to @tmz_tv, it happened during a basketball workout at the University of Southern California. The teen athlete was taken to the hospital where he was treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). He was later released to general care, a spokesperson for the James family told the news outlets.
“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the statement began. “We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.” The spokesperson added, “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”

One person wrote, “That Bronny news caught me so off guard. An 18-year-old catching a heart attack is sickening. Earlier this year, Bronny James committed to USC. His dad LeBron celebrated the huge moment on social media saying, “So damn proud of you kid!” his father wrote on Instagram. “I have no words besides I LOVE YOU!!!”
Bronny was named a McDonald’s All-American after averaging 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.7 steals last season. He was also the No. 20 player in the country in ESPN’s recruiting rankings.
LeBron James previously said one of his final goals before retirement is to play in the NBA with his son.
“I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny,” James said during an interview with ESPN in January.
