“This morning, the governor was in a car accident while traveling to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He and his team are uninjured. We appreciate the prayers and well wishes of the nation for his continued protection while on the campaign trail,” Griffin said in an official statement. More On Ron Desantis And His 2024 Presidential Campaign Run
As we previously reported, earlier this year, Ron DeSantis officially declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for president. He rolled out the news with a campaign video. In the clip, DeSantis said he was running to “lead our great American comeback” and pitched Florida as an example for the nation. “We proved it can be done,” DeSantis said in a voiceover. “We chose facts over fear, education over indoctrination, law and order over rioting and disorder.”
During an audio-only Twitter Spaces event hours after filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, Desantis said, “Well, I am running for president of the United States to lead our great American comeback,” DeSantis, 44, told billionaire the fairly new Twitter CEO. “Governing is not entertainment,” DeSantis said while throwing a little shade at Trump. “It’s not about building a brand or virtue signaling. It’s about delivering results and our results in Florida have been second to none.”
He added at the time, ”If you nominate me, you can set your clock to January 20, 2025, at high noon — because on the west side of the US Capitol, I will be taking the oath of office as the 47th president of the United States. No excuses — I will get the job done.”

How Has Former President Donald Trump Reacted To His Competition?
Of course, Trump, 76, mocked his Republican rival’s online chat with Twitter founder Elon Musk: “Wow! The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!! I know Ron. The way he handled his announcement, he will handle the country.”
In another jab on his platforms, Trump said, “Look, Rob DeSanctimonious came to me asking for help. He was losing badly, by 31 points, to popular Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam. He was getting ready to drop out of the race – Ran a terrible campaign! Ron told me he had one last chance, my Support & Endorsement, which Putnam, and everyone else, wanted also. I gave it to Ron, and the race was over. In one day, he went from losing badly, to winning by a lot. With 3 LARGE TRUMP RALLIES, he WON THE GENERAL ELECTION in an upset.
DISLOYAL!!!”
He added at the time, he[Ron Desantis] desperately needs a personality transplant and, to the best of my knowledge, they are
not medically available yet. A disloyal person!”
