A gross video involving a Washington State middle school staff and students sparked outrage after the clip showed them participating in a game that involved them licking clear plexiglass simultaneously.

The video was shot at Desert Hills Middle School in Kennewick, Washington, where kids and staff were instructed to lick marshmallow fluff off both sides of a plexiglass plane. The tournament was conceived during a pre-spring break pep rally and fundraising. Parents were angered by the video, which accused Desert Hills personnel of failing to halt the game, and their children said it made them feel odd.
One of the parents, Sandie Salisbury, told KTTH that her child shared what happened at the assembly but didn’t expect it to be disgusting until she saw the video. Additionally, she noted that school activities must go through a process to be approved, and the disturbing activity should’ve been prevented.

‘My child came home from school on the last day before spring break and said that they had a really weird assembly that day. He shared briefly – but I had no idea and could never even imagine how incredibly inappropriate this really was. HOW HOW HOW did this happen.’
The school’s principal, Casey Grant, was seen filming the activity while a vice principal participated. ‘When I first saw the video I was mortified. The pure lack of judgment was horrifying by the display of behavior from the trusted adults in the room. What got me even more upset was when I saw the principal laughing and then pulling his phone out to videotape or take pictures of the event,’ Salisbury added.
She said Grant enjoyed the game more than protecting and stopping the children. Another parent, Megan Sa, said her daughter filmed the game and was disgusted as an adult pressed a child’s head against the glass as they licked it.
‘If this is such a harmless and not an ill-intended game, then why the hell did you not share with the students what the game was going to be and the ground rules?’
A statement was released by the school’s superintendent Dr. Traci Pierce after she saw the video and said the staff’s actions do not reflect district policy. Additionally, action will be taken to address the situation as the clip continues to make its rounds on social media. However, she made it clear that the staff had no ill intentions.
‘This activity does not reflect the high standards we hold for our staff members as outlined in district policy. The content of a video being shared on social media is highly concerning, and the situation is currently being investigated by the district. There is zero evidence to suggest or support that this was in any way “grooming” activity on the part of organizers or participants.
‘That being said, the fact that the activity was planned, occurred, and not stopped, shows a lack of sound discernment and good judgement, and the activity is not aligned with district expectations.’
