Florida House Passes Gun Bill Allowing Concealed Carry Without Training Or A Permit, Governor Ron DeSantis Reportedly Plans To Sign
The bill, initially proposed by Speaker Paul Renner, was passed on a 76-32 vote on Friday (March 24). It is reported that supporters of the bill are calling it “constitutional carry,” while critics dubbed it “untrained carry.”
Following the new passing of the bill, Florida gun owners may soon have the ability to carry around concealed weapons without ever needing to obtain a license to conceal-carry a firearm.
It is reported that the bill would also allow non-residents of Florida, who the meet the state’s requirements, to carry concealed weapons in the state without ever needing to apply for a license themselves.
To further clarify, it is reported that the proposed legislature would eliminate concealed weapons permits giving gun owners the ability to carry their firearms in the state without needing a concealed-carry license (which also means no befitting, proper background checks required) or any type of safety and use training for firearms.
Without much of a surprise, the state’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has expressed his support for the bill (and plans to sign it), which further indicates that the new legislature won’t have much of an issue gaining additional support of the GOP elsewhere.

Since the House passing it, the bill is on its way to the Senate for further consideration. Additionally, parts of the bill also look to address school safety.
This would include upping on-campus security, and providing money for “school hardening.” Which is detailed as better coordinating threat-assessment services and allowing armed “guardians” in private schools.
While Republicans in the state believe the bill will enhance public safety, opposing Democrats argue that easing the gun restrictions will in turn result in increased violence.
