A Pennsylvania man allegedly took his wife’s request for a divorce to a shocking and dangerous extreme — by climbing into an excavator and demolishing their family home while she and their two daughters were still inside.
What Led Up to the Incident
According to CBS News, Eric Pierwsza, 48, came home late after drinking and immediately got into an argument with his wife. When she told him the marriage was over, he responded, “If it’s over, I’ll tear the house down.” He made good on that threat almost immediately.
Pierwsza allegedly climbed into a Kubota excavator and began tearing off the rear of the family home. His wife and two daughters were still inside when he started the demolition. A criminal complaint noted that the excavator could be heard running in the background during the 911 call.
The Damage Was So Severe Authorities Questioned the Home’s Structural Integrity
Investigators said the damage to the home was so severe that they were uncertain about its structural integrity following the incident, which occurred in Buffalo Township. After destroying the rear of the home, Pierwsza fled the scene with a gym bag and headed toward Fawn Township.
Charges Eric Pierwsza Is Now Facing
Pierwsza faces several serious charges including reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, and causing a catastrophe. His wife is also seeking an order of protection against him.
