Days before Easter Sunday, Jaden Ivey was spotted preaching on the streets of Auburn, Alabama, near Auburn University. The spotting arrives days after the Chicago Bulls waived its guard following several religions rants on Instagram Live, including controversial comments about the LGBTQ community.
Chicago Bulls Waive Guard Jaden Ivey After Anti-LGBTQ Rant On Instagram Live
As we previously shared, last Monday (March 30), the Bulls released Ivey for “conduct detrimental to the team.” The move arrived hours after he appeared in an Instagram Live delivering anti-LGBTQ comments. During his live, Ivey slammed the NBA’s advocacy and celebration of Pride Month. He said:
“The world can proclaim LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month. And the NBA, they proclaim it. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month, to celebrate unrighteousness.’ They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim it in the streets. Unrighteousness.”
In another livestream, Ivey called Catholicism a “false religion,” and when someone announced they were praying for him, he fired back, “God does not hear your Prayer if you are a sinner.” Following Ivey’s LGBTQ comments, the Chicago Bulls let him go. He will be an unrestricted free agent if and when he clears waivers. At that point, he will then be able to sign with any NBA team wanting him.
Upon waiving Ivey from the team, Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan explained:
“I think there’s a certain level of standards and expectations that are here. I mean, we have people from all different walks of life working in the building and players from all different walks of life, right? So, the first thing is, everybody comes with their own personal experiences. But one is, we’ve got to all be professional. I think there’s got to be a high level of respect for one another, and we got to help each other and then be accountable to those standards.”
Jaden Ivey Takes To Alabama Streets To Preach About Religion
Since Ivey’s Bulls release, he has hopped back online to preach his beliefs. Be it more livestreams or podcast platforms. He’s now also taken his gospel to the streets.
Around midnight on Saturday (April 4), social media users started sharing posts and videos about Jaden Ivey preaching on the streets of Auburn, Alabama. Social users caught him standing on Toomer’s Corner, an intersection on the campus of Auburn University.
According to social users, Ivey was passing by others preaching and holding up religious signs and he decided to stop and join in. In various videos circulating online, Ivey freestyle preaches about the Bible and other religious beliefs. One person, “He seems to be out there with [the] people who be holding signs telling bar goers they going to hell.”
