Socialites, get into this! one of the league’s brightest young stars is packing her bags and heading down South! Angel Reese is officially on the move after the Chicago Sky traded her to the Atlanta Dream. Yup, that’s right!
Reese has been putting in serious work since stepping into the league. After getting drafted No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by Chicago, she wasted no time proving she belonged. In just her first two seasons, she averaged 14 points and nearly 13 rebounds per game, showing why she’s one of the toughest forwards to deal with in the paint.
She also led the league in rebounding in 2025 — a stat that had folks talking all season long. And let’s not forget, before the WNBA, she was already making history after leading LSU Tigers women’s basketball to a national championship in 2023. Now, Reese is making it clear she’s ready for this next chapter.
“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Atlanta Dream organization,” Reese said in a news release from the Dream. “I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream.”
Meanwhile, Atlanta is coming off a strong 30-win season in 2025, so adding a player like Reese only raises expectations. The team clearly believes she fits perfectly into what they’re building.
Dream head coach Karl Smesko didn’t hold back when talking about what Reese brings to the table.
“Angel’s ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor is elite,” Smesko said. “Her energy, toughness and instincts will thrive in our system, and we’re excited to integrate her into the style of play we are constructing here in Atlanta.”
For Chicago fans, this one might sting a little. Reese quickly became a fan favorite with her gritty play, big personality, and nonstop hustle on the boards. But for Atlanta supporters, it’s looking like a new era could be loading, and if Reese keeps playing at the level she’s shown so far, the Dream might be gearing up to make some serious noise in the seasons ahead.
