Kim Kardashian Files New Declaration Over Ray J’s Racketeering Claim

Kim Kardashian has filed a new legal declaration addressing public comments made by Ray J regarding alleged racketeering activity. The filing comes amid an ongoing defamation lawsuit brought by Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, against Ray J.

As previously reported on our site, [INTERNAL LINK: Related article about Kim and Kris suing Ray J for defamation], the dispute centers around statements Ray J made publicly suggesting potential RICO-related wrongdoing involving the Kardashian family.
According to new court documents, Kim Kardashian states she is concerned that the allegations could negatively impact her efforts to become a licensed attorney in California. The declaration outlines her response to Ray J’s statements and addresses the effect she believes the claims could have on her professional aspirations.

Ray J’s Racketeering Comments Explained

The legal dispute stems from several public comments Ray J made in 2023. In May of last year, Ray J publicly stated, “racketeering charges against the Kardashians would be appropriate” and added, “If you told me that the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it.”

A few months later, during a livestream, Ray J said, “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy” and “the feds is coming” while also stating it was “worse than Diddy.”

Following those statements, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J. The lawsuit alleges that his comments were false and damaging.

In response, Ray J filed a countersuit. He claims Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner breached a prior settlement agreement by discussing the sex tape during their Hulu reality series.

Kim Kardashian’s Declaration Addresses Criminal Allegations

In her newly filed declaration, Kim Kardashian denies any involvement in criminal activity. She states, “When [Ray J] made these allegations about me and my mother, he had absolutely no basis to make them.”

Kim further states that she has never been charged, indicted, or accused of committing a crime, including any RICO violation. She adds, “I have never been contacted by a government authority or agency, or a civil litigant, in connection with any alleged or potential criminal activity.”

The declaration also references her past relationship with Ray J, which she described as “short lived,” occurring approximately two decades ago.

Additionally, Kim states she was concerned about the impact of the allegations on her children and close associates. She explains, “I had to have tough conversations with my kids about the lies [Ray J] has repeatedly told about me and my family.”
According to the filing, Kim believes the public statements have caused reputational harm.

Impact on Kim Kardashian’s Legal Career Goals

In the declaration, Kim Kardashian addresses her ongoing efforts to become an attorney in California. She states, “I feared that [Ray J’s] accusations would put my dreams of becoming an attorney in jeopardy.”

She further explains, “It is my understanding that, before becoming an attorney, the California State Bar evaluates moral character through a comprehensive background investigation, including investigation allegations of criminal misconduct or dishonesty.”

Kim adds, “I’m worried that I would need to address these entirely false accusations and that they might be taken seriously.”

The California State Bar requires applicants to complete a moral character determination process before admission. That review includes background checks and evaluation of any alleged misconduct.
Kim Kardashian has been pursuing a legal career for several years and has publicly documented her studies and advocacy efforts related to criminal justice reform.

The case between Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Ray J remains ongoing.
