Megyn Kelly Says She Doesn’t Feel Sorry For Alex Pretti After Being Killed By ICE Agent

Megyn Kelly is facing renewed attention after making public comments about Alex Pretti, a Minnesota man who was fatally shot by a Border Patrol agent over the weekend. During a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the conservative commentator said she does not feel sympathy for Pretti following the deadly encounter.

The incident, which occurred in Minneapolis, has sparked national discussion and prompted calls for an independent investigation from both Democratic and Republican lawmakers. Authorities have released limited information so far, while bystander video circulating online has raised questions about official claims regarding what led to the shooting.

Kelly’s remarks have since circulated widely across social media and news platforms, reigniting conversations around protest activity, law enforcement use of force, and accountability.

What Megyn Kelly Said About Alex Pretti

During Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly directly addressed the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti and shared her personal stance on the situation.

“I know I’m supposed to feel sorry for Alex Pretti, but I don’t. I don’t. Do you know why I wasn’t shot by Border Patrol this weekend? Because I kept my a– inside and out of their operations.” Kelly continued by explaining how she believes individuals should engage in protest activity without interfering with law enforcement.

“It’s very simple,” Kelly said. “If I felt strongly enough about something the government was doing, that I would go out and protest, I would do it peacefully on the sidewalk without interfering via a whistle, via shouting, via my body, via any other way.”

Her statements quickly gained traction online, drawing attention from media outlets and social media users across the political spectrum.

What Happened to Alex Pretti in Minnesota

Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was fatally shot by a Border Patrol agent during a law enforcement operation in Minneapolis on Saturday. According to officials, Pretti approached federal officers during the operation.

Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino stated that Pretti approached officers while carrying a 9-millimeter handgun. However, bystander footage that has circulated online appears to contradict that claim.

Video recorded at the scene shows Pretti holding a cellphone and assisting a woman who had been pepper sprayed by a federal officer. Moments later, Pretti himself appears to be sprayed and taken to the ground by officers.

No video released so far shows Pretti unholstering his firearm. Pretti reportedly had a valid Minnesota permit to carry a concealed weapon. Footage appears to show one officer removing Pretti’s gun and walking away with it shortly before shots were fired.

Conflicting Statements From Officials and Video Evidence

The discrepancy between official statements and video footage has fueled calls for further review. Lawmakers from both parties have requested an independent investigation into the shooting, marking it as the second fatal shooting involving a federal officer in Minneapolis this month.
U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli commented on the incident via the social platform X.

“If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you,” Essayli wrote.

However, that statement was challenged by the National Rifle Association. “This sentiment from the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California is dangerous and wrong,” the NRA wrote in a post addressing Essayli.

“Responsible public voices should be awaiting a full investigation, not making generalizations and demonizing law-abiding citizens.”
