Donald Trump Says He Hopes Renee Good’s Father Is Still a “Fan” After She Was Shot and Killed by ICE Agent

Donald Trump Addresses Renee Good Shooting During White House Briefing

President Donald Trump publicly commented on the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good during a White House press briefing on January 20, marking the one-year anniversary of his return to office.

During the briefing, Trump reflected on the death of Good, a 37-year-old mother of three who was shot and killed earlier this month in Minneapolis by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. While speaking to reporters, Trump referenced Good’s family, specifically noting what he said he had been told about her father’s political support.

When I found out that her parents, particularly her dad, were like ‒ I hope he still is, but I don’t know ‒ a tremendous Trump fan,” Trump said. “He was all for Trump. Loved Trump. It’s terrible. I heard that from a lot of people. They say, ‘Oh, he loves you.’ He was a ‒ I hope he still feels that way.”

Trump continued by acknowledging the circumstances surrounding the incident and the impact on Good’s family. “It’s a hard, hard situation. But her father was a tremendous ‒ and her parents were tremendous Trump fans. It’s so sad. It just happens. It’s terrible.”

The comments were made as Trump spoke for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, covering a wide range of topics related to immigration enforcement, law enforcement, and current events.

Details Surrounding the Death of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis

Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot on January 7 during an encounter involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Minneapolis. According to authorities, the incident occurred while ICE agents were conducting operations in the area.

Officials stated that Good was inside her SUV and had been instructed to exit the vehicle. Law enforcement reports indicate that she drove her vehicle forward near ICE agent Jonathan Ross during the encounter. At that point, Ross discharged his weapon, striking Good. She later died from her injuries.

Good was 37 years old and is survived by her three children. Her death prompted public attention and renewed discussion around immigration enforcement practices and the use of force during federal operations.

The ICE agent involved in the shooting, Jonathan Ross, was identified by officials following the incident. The matter remains under investigation as part of standard procedures when a fatal shooting involves a federal officer.

Trump Comments on ICE Enforcement and Use of Force

During the same briefing, Trump addressed broader concerns about Immigration and Customs Enforcement, including the challenges agents face during enforcement actions.
“They’re going to make mistakes. Sometimes, ICE is going to be too rough with somebody. You know, you deal with rough people,” Trump said.
He also stated that he felt sympathy for the situation involving Good’s death.
Trump added that he “felt terribly” about the incident, while reiterating his overall stance on immigration enforcement and the risks associated with federal agents carrying out their duties.
