#Socialites, come get into this: President Donald Trump turned his Truth Social feed into a flamethrower Thursday calling for the arrest, trial, and even execution-level punishment of six Democratic lawmakers who appeared in a video urging U.S. service members to reject unlawful orders.
Trump’s post came with his trademark caps-lock rant: “It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL,” he wrote. “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”
And he didn’t stop there. The president then went on a repost spree, 16 posts deep, including one that flat-out called for the lawmakers to be hanged, saying they should be punished like “GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD.”Trump later doubled down himself, writing: “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”
The dramatic back-and-forth was sparked by a video featuring Sens. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) and Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), plus Reps. Jason Crow (D-Colo.), Chrissy Houlahan (D-Penn.), Maggie Goodlander (D-N.H.), and Chris Deluzio (D-Penn.). All six have military or national security backgrounds which added even more weight to their message.
In the video, the group speaks directly to U.S. service members and intelligence professionals, saying:
“We know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now… Americans trust their military. But that trust is at risk… Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this Constitution… Our laws are clear, you can refuse illegal orders.”
Their warning came as Trump continues rolling out federalized National Guard troops to cities like Washington, Chicago, and Portland under a push to crack down on crime and ramp up deportations. Democratic officials have called the deployments illegal, and some have already hit the courts to try to stop them.
But Trump — visibly heated — wasn’t having it.
“This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country,” he wrote later. “Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???”
