Breaking: FBI Has Released an Image of the Person of Interest in the Shooting of Charlie Kirk

This Thursday morning, the FBI released photos of the person of interest in the shooting of political activist Charlie Kirk.

In a post shared on social media, the FBI published what appeared to be surveillance screenshots of the alleged person of interest. The images show a thin white man wearing glasses, a hat, blue jeans, and a sweatshirt with the American flag and eagle on it.

The tweet read,

“We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

The post comes just hours after Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday. Kirk, who was the founder of the conservative youth activist organization Turning Point USA, died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University.

Trump confirmed his passing in a post following conflicting reports. It read, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump said on social media.

“No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Two people were arrested shortly after but were released following questioning. The first was later charged with obstruction by university police. The second person was taken into custody and released after an “interrogation” by law enforcement, the department said.

Videos circulating online appear to show someone on the roof at the time of the event.

Still, no suspect has been captured, and now the FBI is leaning on the public for more information.

Utah Valley University announced on its website that it will remain closed until Monday following the on-campus shooting of Kirk.

“All classes (in-person or virtual), campus events, and administrative operations will be suspended during this time,” the school said on its website.

We will continue to keep you updated as more details come forth.
