Diddy Scores Another Legal Victory As Sexual Assault Lawsuit Gets Tossed
Diddy just racked up another legal “W” after a New York judge dismissed one of the sexual assault lawsuits filed against him.
As previously reported, back in February a man sued the Bad Boy mogul claiming Diddy allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted him inside a nightclub. The accuser, who was 23 at the time, said the alleged incident went down in 2015 when he had just landed a gig at the club.
The man, identified in court as John Doe, claimed he was given a drink, fell unconscious, and woke up to Diddy having “unwanted sexual contact” with him. The lawsuit, filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, also accused Diddy of threatening the man’s career if he resisted.
But according to TMZ, the judge ruled Mr. Doe simply waited too long to bring the case.
Judge Says New York Law Doesn’t Apply Retroactively
The New York judge explained that even though there was a five-year statute of limitations in effect when the alleged assault happened, the 2019 law extending that timeline to 20 years does not apply retroactively. Meaning, John Doe can’t use the newer law to revive his old claim.
Because of that, the lawsuit was dismissed entirely — including the claims against Diddy’s companies: Bad Boy Entertainment and Combs Enterprises, TMZ reports.
Another “W” In Diddy’s Legal Battles
This dismissal adds to Diddy’s recent legal wins. He’s previously come out on top in other civil cases that accused him of misconduct.
But make no mistake… the embattled music mogul is still facing major heat in his federal criminal case.
Diddy Still Facing Federal Sentencing
Even though this civil case was tossed, Diddy remains locked up. He’s currently awaiting sentencing after being acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges in his federal case.
However, prosecutors did secure a conviction against him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The judge denied his bail request, calling him a danger to the community. His sentencing is officially set for October 3, 2025.
Hollywood Unlocked Take
Another lawsuit down, but Diddy’s legal fight is far from over. With sentencing just months away, all eyes remain on what’s next for the fallen mogul as he tries to hold on to what’s left of his empire.
