
What We Know About the Mass Shooting Outside Mello Buckzz’s Album Release Party
A mass shooting rocked the streets of Chicago late Wednesday night, leaving four people dead and 14 others injured outside Artis Restaurant and Lounge—the site of an album release party for rising Chicago rapper Mello Buckzz.
The shooting unfolded around 11 p.m. on the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue, just as people were clearing out from the event. According to police, a dark vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire on the crowd. The vehicle sped off, leaving behind shattered lives and a frantic scene.
Victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. Four were pronounced dead, including:
• A 24-year-old man shot in the chest
• A 25-year-old man shot in the head
• A 26-year-old woman with chest wounds
• A 27-year-old woman also shot in the chest
According to NBC Chicago, Mello Buckzz’s boyfriend and best friend were among the victims who tragically lost their lives.
14 More Victims Injured in Chaotic Shooting
In total, 14 people were injured—some critically. Among those fighting for their lives:
• A 21-year-old woman shot in the mouth
• A 24-year-old woman shot in the leg
• Another 24-year-old shot in the back
• Other victims included:
A 32-year-old woman shot in the thigh (fair condition)
A 31-year-old woman shot multiple times (serious condition)
Eight others—ages ranging from 25 to 31—were reported in good condition. Injuries included gunshot wounds to the shin, thigh, and knee.
Witnesses say it was nothing short of a warzone. Photos and videos from the scene captured heavy police presence, ambulances lined up, and officers assisting victims near the front entrance. First responders were seen loading victims into ambulances as crime scene tape stretched across the street.
Chicago PD Still Searching for Shooter — No Arrests Made
As of now, no suspects are in custody. Police say detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering witness statements.
The tragedy once again sheds light on the rise of gun violence in Chicago, particularly surrounding high-profile events. Despite the celebration, the night ended in bloodshed and sorrow.
