Donald Trump celebrates CBS’s end to Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ — Says “I Absolutely Love” ThatStephen Colbert’s Bad News Is Good News To Trump

Stephen Colbert’s bad news is good news to Trump…

The former president took some time out of his day to celebrate the news that CBS is axing Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show. While doing that, he also predicted that ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel would be the next host to get cut.

“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform Friday morning. “His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once-great Tonight Show.”

CBS Confirms Cancellation Of Colbert’s Late Show

As we previously reported, on Thursday, CBS announced it was canceling the long-running Late Show with Stephen Colbert, citing financial reasons in a statement.

“This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,” the statement read.

“Stephen has taken CBS late night by storm with cutting-edge comedy, a must-watch monologue, and interviews with leaders in entertainment, politics, news, and newsmakers across all areas. The show has been #1 in late night for nine straight seasons; Stephen’s comedy resonates daily across digital and social media; and the broadcast is a staple of the nation’s zeitgeist.”

The statement continued:

“The accomplishments of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert are memorable and significant in performance, quality and stature. With much gratitude, we look forward to honoring Stephen and celebrating the show over the next 10 months alongside its millions of fans and viewers.”

Colbert Reacts On-Air After Trump’s Victory Lap

Colbert, who’s been a longtime critic of Trump and his antics, reacted to the news while on-air. He said:

“While I was on vacation, my parent corporation Paramount paid Donald Trump a $16 million settlement over his 60 Minutes lawsuit,” Colbert, 61, said during a monologue on The Late Show. “As someone who has always been a proud employee of this network, I am offended, and I don’t know if anything will ever repair my trust in this company. But just taking a stab at it, I’d say $16 million would help.”

The End Of An Era

While we still have some time left to enjoy the show, many fans are not happy to hear that it’ll soon be the end of a great era.

Love him or hate him, Colbert’s run shaped the landscape of late-night TV. From viral monologues to headline-grabbing political jokes, he made The Late Show a cultural force — and now Trump’s out here dancing on its grave.
