Charlamagne Tha God is keeping it real and calling out some Democrats for not standing in solidarity with Rep. Al Green after he was removed from the House chamber on Tuesday night.
During the “Donkey of the Day” segment on The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne made it clear that the Democrats should have walked out with Al Green when he was escorted out.
“Here’s my issue, old men for council, young men for war. Where were the young warriors? Even if you didn’t want to set it off like Congressman Al Green did, you got to stand with him when he does, you got to walk out with him and protest when he does,” Charlamagne said.
Texas Democrat Al Green Says He’ll Bring Articles Of Impeachment Against Trump Over Gaza Remarks
Green, who’s been on the impeachment train for a minute now—dating back to Trump’s earlier term—stood up and waved his cane at the former president right at the start of his speech. That move clearly didn’t sit right with House Speaker Mike Johnson, who wasted no time having Green removed.
Al Green Stands His Ground, But Where Were the Democrats?
House Speaker Mike Johnson made sure to remind everyone in the chamber about the rules.
“Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions,” Johnson said, throwing shade at Green.
But Green wasn’t backing down. When he refused to sit and let Trump keep talking, Johnson hit up the House sergeant at arms, and just like that, Green was escorted out.
And guess what? Instead of anyone stepping up, the Republicans started clowning.
“Nah nah nah nah, goodbye,” they chanted as Green was taken out of the chamber.
Where was the energy from the Democrats? The same ones who claim to stand for the people? This is exactly what Charlamagne was getting at—if you claim to be about that life, you can’t just sit back when it’s time to actually take a stand.
Al Green Speaks Out: “Trump Does Not Have a Mandate”
Outside the chamber, Green kept it 100, telling NBC News why he took a stand in the first place.
“As a person of conscience, I believe Trump has done things that we cannot allow to continue,” Green said.
He didn’t stop there. He made it clear that Trump’s budget is dangerous—especially for poor people.
“This whole budget that he has is one that is going to cause Medicaid to be cut, and when he said he had a mandate, it triggered something. It really did. Because he doesn’t have a mandate, and he doesn’t have a mandate to cut health care from poor people,” Green continued.

Charlamagne’s Message: Stand Up or Sit Down
Charlamagne didn’t mince words. His point was loud and clear—when a leader like Al Green puts himself on the line, Democrats should have his back.
We see time and time again how Black politicians and activists are left standing alone, even by the very party that claims to represent them. The fact that nobody walked out with Al Green? That’s exactly why Charlamagne gave them Donkey of the Day.
“We say we stand with people when it’s convenient. But when it’s time to really ride? Silence. That ain’t it,” Charlamagne said.
The Bottom Line
Charlamagne is once again speaking facts, and this situation proves exactly why Black voices in politics need more support. Al Green put himself out there for what he believed in, and instead of backing him up, the Democrats let him walk out alone.
If they really want support from Black voters, it’s time they start showing up—not just with words, but with action.
