Eric Adams Responds To Critics Telling Him To Step Down: ‘Are You Stupid?’

New York City Mayor Eric Adams made it crystal clear that he’s not bowing out anytime soon. Amid mounting pressure from some Democratic leaders and critics, Adams boldly defended his position, delivering a passionate response that left no room for misinterpretation.

During a public address, the mayor drew a striking comparison between his own struggles and biblical events, implying that the backlash he’s receiving is unjustified.

Department of Justice Files Request to Drop Corruption Charges Against Eric Adams

“This is a biblical moment,” Adams declared. “When Jesus was on the cross, he said, ‘God forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ All these negroes who are asking me to step down, God forgive them. Are you stupid? I’m running my race right now!”

His comments immediately sparked heated reactions, but Adams didn’t stop there. He went on to highlight the successes of his administration, crediting himself with strides in affordable housing, public safety, and employment growth.

“What we have done, you have to be stupid to try and stop me from running this race,” he added.

Adams Defends His Remarks In Heated Interview

Adams later appeared on Good Day New York for a sit-down interview with Fox5 anchor Curt Menefee, who pressed him about his controversial remarks. Menefee specifically asked whether the mayor was implying that Black people were obligated to support him.

Here’s how the exchange went down:

MENEFEE: “So who are you specifically talking to when you say Negroes?”

ADAMS: “Well, who has asked me to step down? If you look at that whole speech, the speech talked about the continuation of light in your flame and continue to light and shine. And that’s what we’ve done in this administration with our team. So those who have called for me to allow my flame to prematurely be extinguished. That’s who I’m talking about.”

His response only fueled further debate, with some critics arguing that Adams was using racial identity to deflect from legitimate concerns about his leadership.

Why Some Are Calling For Adams To Resign

Adams’ time in office has been anything but smooth. While he touts his achievements, critics have been vocal about their discontent, citing:

Ongoing corruption probes: Federal investigations into fundraising practices have cast a shadow over his administration.

Concerns over crime rates: Despite claims of improving public safety, some New Yorkers feel the city is still struggling.

Housing and affordability issues: While Adams boasts about progress, many residents argue that rent prices continue to skyrocket.
His latest comments have only intensified the calls for him to step aside, with some Democratic leaders arguing that the controversy surrounding him is a distraction from real issues.
