Donald Trump knows his way around a pop culture meme.
It’s one reason the real estate mogul thrives in today’s political marketplace. It’s often more about memes and vibes than policies.
It explains why he tapped Stanley Kubrick’s 1987 masterpiece “Full Metal Jacket” in a recent X post.

The clip blasts the Biden administration’s “woke” military policies using the film’s fictional drill sergeant (R. Lee Ermey) to hammer home the point.
Turns out Kubrick’s daughter approves of that message. Vivian Kubrick went beyond that, though.
The 64-year-old composer and sometimes filmmaker defended the clip’s use. She added her father, who passed in 1999, would have been MAGA had he lived to see Trump’s political ascent.
TO THOSE WHO THINK MY FATHER WOULDN’T HAVE WANTED #TRUMP TO USE FMJ FOOTAGE
Here are my thoughts: I agree in principle that an anti-war movie is incongruous with promoting the idea of a tough non-woke US military and thus war itself – however – these are very dangerous and… https://t.co/0bSXz8nL3V

“Trump is always seeking to end wars and use peaceful methods. However, that’s primarily what [‘Full Metal Jacket’] is about, the shocking and complicated paradoxes of human nature…
“Truthfully, I believe my father (who supported Reagan), would very much approve of saving America, indeed the world, from the highly destructive Globalist forces threatening to take over this planet. And if that footage from FMJ helps Trump make the point that the US military needs properly trained, super tough, focused, dedicated warriors, and not introduce the demoralizing effects of woke-ism, and attracting people to join up simply to have their sexual reassignments paid for, then Trump has my blessing.”
She said the late Kubrick owned several guns for self-defense and, therefore, supported the Second Amendment.
“My father had a great respect for life – his movies being unimpeachable evidence of his love for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! So on that basis, I feel very confident he would be a Trump supporter and would forgive using FMJ incongruously, if it helps the cause of freedom!”
It’s the most unlikely celebrity endorsement possible, and it comes through the filter of a daughter who lost her dad 25 years ago.
Vivian Kubrick’s biases are plain to see on social media. She shares messages from Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones and other voices on the Right. She appeared on Jones’ show earlier this year.
