Adam Carolla is old enough to remember when “the buck stops here” actually meant something.
It’s what’s said after someone makes a major mistake and is willing to face the consequences. Except there are no consequences in the Biden era.
- Hand Afghanistan over to the Taliban? Keep your job.
- Turn the border into a sieve? Keep your job.
- Let a 20-year-old punk shoot at the former (and future?) president? Show up to work Monday morning.
That’s exactly what’s happening with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. President Donald Trump nearly died July 13 at a Butler, Pa. rally when a young man fired several rounds in his direction. One bullet clipped Trump’s ear. The others struck people in the crowd, injuring two and killing Corey Comperatore.
It’s the worst Secret Service fail in decades, and the more we know about the shooting the bigger the scandal grows. Just google “slope” and Cheatle’s name and you’ll start to see why.
U.S. Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle told ABC News that the shooting should’ve never happened. “The buck stops with me,” she said. “I am the director of the Secret Service. It was unacceptable and it’s something that shouldn’t happen again.”https://t.co/26a67CX7xS

Cheatle played the “buck stops here” card in a softball ABC News interview while insisting she’s not going anyway.
Carolla smelled a rat. More specifically, he smelled noxious DEI policies.

“You are bringing into question DEI hires all the time. It won’t stop happening,” the comedian said on the latest “Adam and Dr. Drew Show” podcast. He recalled the embarrassing testimony from three female Ivy League college presidents regarding the rise of antisemitism on campus.
And, later, we learned Harvard President Claudine Gay was a serial plagiarist.
“Is she the best for this job? Oh, but she’s a black woman,” he said in a whisper before switching to Cheatle and her incompetence tied to the assassination attempt.

“Oh, we have a woman running the Secret Service. Is she the best [for the job]? She didn’t seem like she’s the best,” Carolla said. “The biggest problem there is with DEI is us questioning things all the time.”
“Before DEI we had Janet Reno,” Carolla said of the late attorney general under President Bill Clinton. “And nobody said anything.”
“And Madeleine Albright,” co-host Dr. Drew Pinsky added.
“We never questioned their qualifications,” Carolla said before bemoaning a worrisome trend in modern culture.
“When somebody F’d up, up the food chain, fired immediately,” Dr. Pinsky said of the “old” normal. “Immediately.”
“When you do the DEI hire you can’t really do the fire because when you do the fire you’re shedding light on a bad hire,” Carolla said.
Take Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who is presiding over a border crisis unlike any other.
“Millions of people flowing across, unknown tonnage of fentanyl, people died, there’s murders and rapes now, and who knows how many Al Qaeda sleeper cells have waltzed over the border,” Carolla said. “If that’s his job he needs to be removed from his duties.”
The pair then blamed the media for refusing to hold them accountable. Cheatle trotted out the “buck stops with me” line during a fawning press interview. What was missing? Actual consequences.
Without them, it’s just tough talk without meaning.
“You need to be fired if you’re in charge of this,” he said of Mayorkas. Left unsaid? Cheatle deserves the same fate.
Editor’s Note: It’s a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but it’s never been more necessary given the sorry state of the mainstream media. If you’re enjoying Hollywood in Toto, I hope you’ll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our Tip Jar.
