Sports analyst, Monica McNutt has ‘First Take’ trending on X after a heated debate took place on Monday’s episode. As we all know sports fans all around the world have been voicing their opinions on the hard foul that Chicago Sky player, Chennedy Carter committed on Caitlin Clark.

On today’s episode of the show, McNutt and Stephen A. Smith got into a debate that escalated quickly while discussing the WNBA and Caitlin Clark’s impact on the game. “We’re still talking about competition, where you are allowed to get a little extra elbow in if you are competing and you do it in the parameters of the game. The game is physical, Caitlin is helping to grow the league, these women understand that, but she cannot be babied as a rookie,” McNutt shared.

Things seemed to go a different direction when Stephen A. Smith asked who talks more about women’s sports than First Take. And McNutt responded — in the context of fans who are just following the W starting this season — with this: “Respectfully, with your platform, you could have been doing this three years ago if you wanted to.” Which left Smith speechless.

As we previously shared, during the game on Saturday, Clark experienced a hard foul in the third quarter. In a surprising turn of events, Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter blindsided Clark, delivering a forceful shoulder check from behind during an inbounds play. While the referees initially deemed it a common foul, the league office later reviewed the incident and upgraded the call to a Flagrant 1 on Carter. Clark also addressed the incident following the Fever’s 71-70 victory, stating, “I wasn’t anticipating that. But the key is to respond, stay composed, and let your performance speak for itself. It is what it is.”

Carter eventually shared a response on Threads, seemingly directed towards Clark, inquiring, “Other than her three-point shooting, what else can she offer, man?” Followed by a crying/laughing emoji.
