Saweetie is reminding everyone that her success wasn’t just an overnight thing. In fact, she explained how she hustled her way to the top — a journey that wasn’t so pretty.

In a recent interview on Power 106, she opened up about her humble beginnings and the challenges she faced on her journey to success.

As Saweetie shared her story, she became visibly emotional, reflecting on a time when she had nowhere to stay and had to resort to “couch surfing” while tirelessly pursuing her rap career.

She told Brown Bag Mornings host Letty Peniche that eventually, she found a room for rent on Craigslist but while dealing with that and writing her raps, she realized she “couldn’t even pop sh*t.” Saweetie said she wouldn’t allow herself to lie in her lyrics just to create a song. “I was literally like… I’m not here right now, but eventually, I’m gonna get there. So ima thank God for what I’m about to be.”

More On Saweetie:

Saweetie has not stopped her grind. On Friday she debuted her new catchy single “Nani,” which she’s been teasing for weeks.

“Ooh, got that nani, nani, nani/ How she walk through, swingin’ that body/ Yellin’, ’Who gon’ stop me?’/ You ain’t got the time to clock me,” she sings on the track. “Ooh, got that nani, nani, nani/ Big, bag, I’ma fill it up with money/ Yellin’, ‘Who gon’ stop me?’/ You ain’t got the time to clock me.”

“NANi” is Saweetie’s second solo single of 2024. Prior to that she dropped “Richtivities” in February — a song that was included in her project titled PRETTY HU$TLER MIX.

Aside from that Saweetie has also been blessing fans with a freestyle, showing her growth and skills.
