A Georgia father has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after a Fulton County jury found him guilty of adding antifreeze to his new born daughter’s breast milk, according to Fox News.
Curtis Jack was taken into custody on October 16, 2020 after his 18-day-old daughter tested positive for ethylene glycol, a chemical often found in automotive antifreeze. Jack was hit with felony criminal attempt to commit murder and felony first-degree cruelty to children and was found guilty on all counts.
According to the report Jack had a baby with a woman that he worked with and during the early stages he pleaded with her to get an abortion, but she wanted to keep the child. Jack admitted to South Fulton detectives he added antifreeze to bottles of breast milk he picked up on Oct. 1, 2020, from his daughter’s mother, who was still hospitalized after giving birth. He then took the bottles that antifreeze in the breast milk and took it to the baby’s grandmother who was helping to baby sit while the mother was in the hospital. The grandmother gave the milk to the infant without knowing it had been poisoned by Jack. With 24 hours the baby became critically ill and was suspected of being poisoned, police said.
During the trial, the grandmother and Jack’s baby mother took the stand along with medical examiners who explained how easy it was for Jack to poison the breast milk.
When everything was said and done, Jack was handed a 50 year sentence with 40 years to serve in custody.
