We haven’t heard much about Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci’s case but new updates have brought it back to the spotlight. The rapper also known as Rayshawn Bennett, has entered a guilty plea in connection to a racketeering case in Fulton County. The charges stem from a 75-page, 105-count racketeering indictment that targeted factions within the Bloods street gang.

Facing a range of felony counts, including felony murder, Bennett has agreed to plead guilty to one count of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

During a court hearing on Tuesday, Bennett’s plea deal was announced. The prosecution has proposed a 20-year sentence, with 10 years to be served. However, as part of the agreement, Bennett would receive credit for time served since surrendering to the charges on January 13, 2021. Additionally, the State has agreed to write a letter to the pardon and parole board, stating that they will not object to his early release.

According to WSBTV, before the sentencing, Bennett took the opportunity to express remorse and apologize to the victim’s family, as well as his own family, friends, and the court. This display of contrition may have influenced the plea deal and the potential for a reduced sentence.

While the proposed plea deal seems favorable for Bennett, it is ultimately up to the judge to sign off on the sentencing. The judge will carefully consider the details of the case, including the guilty plea, the nature of the charges, and any mitigating factors presented by the defense. Once the judge reaches a decision, Bennett’s fate will be determined.

Meanwhile, his attorney Drew Findling believes his client will only be locked up just for a few months. He told TMZ, “As he has maintained for three years now, Mr. Bennett will NOT cooperate in any other case. By entering into this resolution, he will be eligible for parole in as early as four months from now. The prosecution has also agreed that he should be released early on parole and this will allow him to get back to his children, family and career.”

YFN Lucci’s case has garnered significant attention within the rap community and beyond. The involvement of a prominent artist in a criminal case highlights the challenges faced by musicians who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. It also raises questions about the influence of street gangs and the potential consequences of associating with such groups.

More Rappers With Similar Legal Cases:

YFN Lucci is just one of many rappers who are currently jailed for street gang crimes. Fellow Atlanta rapper Young Thug is currently on trial for a RICO.

As we previously reported, Young Thug, who runs the Young Stoner Life label, has been accused of co-founding the Young Slime Life Atlanta gang and violating the RICO. Prosecutors have accused the “Go Crazy” rapper of being the co-founder of and involved with the Atlanta-area street gang Young Slime Life, which has ties to the national Bloods gang and has brought racketeering, drug, and weapons-related charges against him. However, this is something he denies.
