#Socialites, get into this! Kelly Clarkson is sharing shocking allegations against her ex-husband and former manager, Brandon Blackstock. The American Idol alum claims that Blackstock told her she lacked the sex appeal required to be a judge on the hit show, The Voice, despite eventually landing the coveted role.

According to court documents recently obtained by the Post, Clarkson made these revelations during a hearing with a California labor commissioner in 2023, as part of an investigation into Blackstock’s handling of her finances during their relationship. The singer testified that Blackstock had explicitly stated that she wouldn’t pass as a ‘Voice’ coach due to her perceived lack of sex appeal.

Clarkson further alleged that Blackstock had compared her unfavorably to pop superstar Rihanna, insinuating that she did not possess the desired image that NBC was seeking. Shockingly, he even allegedly went as far as to claim that the network was interested in signing a Black star, implying that Clarkson’s appearance did not align with their preferences.

The Grammy-winning artist had expressed her desire to join the panel of judges for some time, but Blackstock allegedly dismissed her aspirations, citing her supposed lack of attractiveness for television. He also argued that she and then-judge Blake Shelton were too similar, hindering her chances of securing the coveted role.

However, despite Blackstock’s discouraging remarks, Clarkson did eventually join “The Voice” in 2018, where she remained for several seasons. Blackstock testified that he played a pivotal role in securing her the job in 2017, threatening NBC executives that she would return to “American Idol” if they did not sign her. He reportedly demanded a significant financial compensation, stating that it would cost “Blake money” to secure her services.

These shocking revelations come on the heels of a recent ruling by the same California labor commissioner, which found that Blackstock had overcharged Clarkson during their professional relationship, coinciding with their marriage. TMZ reported that he now owes her a staggering $2.6 million in fees he had collected.

The financial controversy also ties into the drama surrounding Clarkson’s involvement with “The Voice.” The labor commission discovered that Blackstock had overcharged her approximately $1.98 million in securing the gig. Despite the ruling, Blackstock has vowed to appeal the decision.

Kelly Clarkson’s brave decision to speak out about the hurtful comments and financial mismanagement she endured during her marriage sheds light on the darker side of the entertainment industry and even marriage.

As we previously reported, Kelly Clarkson officially announced their shocking split in 2020. After a messy divorce, the Since You’ve Been Gone singer finalized it in 2022.
