Sexyy Redd is speaking out after to clarify reports about a shooting that sadly left one person dead.
As previously reported, the rapper held a music video shoot in Florida. It was said that she had a bunch of extras on set at the Oakland Park Flea Market. However, somebody allegedly pulled a gun nearby and started firing. TMZ reported that two people were hit and one was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition was not known.
Sexy Redd took to her Instagram Story this Friday morning to address the “rumors.” She said, “I send my condolences to the family of the man who lost his life and prayers up for the person who was wounded.” She went on to say, “But I gotta address the rumors that it happened at my video shoot [because] sh*t is not true, at all. To be clear it happened at a gas station across the street from my video set. Florida Highway Patrol and Broward County Sheriff confirmed that the shooting wasn’t on my set.”
She added in another IG Story post, “I’m just trying to work hard, make good music, connect with my fans. Please don’t try to twist narratives and put this on a b*tch.”

Aside from this unfortunate incident, Sexy Redd has definitely been working. Earlier this week the new artist scored her first No.1 on Billboard’s new TikTok chart thanks to her song “SkeeYee.”Billboard announced Thursday (Sept. 14), that the chart is a weekly ranking of the most popular songs on TikTok in the U.S., based on creations, video views, and user engagement.
As the music site notes, “Concurrently, ‘SkeeYee’ bows at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Sept. 16. In the Sept. 1-7 tracking week, the song drew 6.5 million radio audience impressions (up 55%) and 6.2 million official streams (up 29%) and sold 1,000 downloads (up 28%) in the U.S., according to Luminate.”
That song follows Sexyy Red’s breakthrough hit “Pound Town 2” (with Tay Keith and Nicki Minaj).
Sexyy Redd seems to be on the path to great success due to her funny and relatable personality and catchy songs. The star also recently popped out for the MTV Video Music Awards where she definitely turned some heads.
