Tory Lanez Reportedly Rejected 4-Year Plea Deal Prior To Being Sentenced To 10 Years In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

Before being sentenced to 10 years in prison in the 2020 Megan Thee Stallion shooting, Tory Lanez was reportedly first given a 4-year plea deal, but he rejected it.

According to VladTV, a month after being sentenced, additional details are surfacing from Lanez’s case. The publication claims that they have recently received new information stemming from the shooting case. Sources close to the news outlet claim that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office offered Tory Lanez a four-year plea deal earlier in the case.

Reportedly, the Toronto native rejected the plea deal and decided to take the case to trial, where he was subsequently found guilty on several felony charges: assault with a semi-automatic firearm; carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Then, during his sentencing hearing, he was hit with additional time and was ordered to complete 10 years in prison.

Following the 10-year prison sentence, Lanez’s attorney, Jose Baez, revealed that their team fully intended on appealing the judge’s decision, and are seeking less time.

At the time, Baez said, “We’re disappointed that Tory did not get the sentence that we certainly hoped for. I think the sentence handed down was incredibly harsh. I have seen cases like vehicular homicide and other cases where there’s death and the person still gets less than 10 years and in this case to get a 10 year sentence is extreme. This is really just another example of someone being punished for their celebrity status and some being utilized to send an example.”

He continued, “He’s not an example he’s a human being and I think it’s incredible unfortunate and something that we plan on appealing. I’m incredibly disappointed that the district attorney office didn’t step up and put their money where their mouth was in this case, but hey that’s certainly within their discretion and that’s why you have two sides to the argument.”

Meanwhile, the rapper remains in the Los Angeles County Jail, where officials are said to be keeping him in isolation, away from the general population.

According to TMZ, while Lanez sits inside of the LA County Jail, he is being kept isolated from general population and being given just a few hours a day outside of his cell, weekly. Per the site’s law enforcement sources, the “Say It” singer is being kept in “the administrative segregation unit” and being checked on every 30 minutes. It is said that this unit is meant for inmates who can’t be safely housed with the rest of the inmates in general pop.

In addition to being kept isolated, Lanez is only being permitted to be outside of his cell for 2 hours a day. The remaining hours have him by himself in his cell. Additionally, as for any time outside, getting fresh air during recreation time, Lanez is only allowed 3 hours per week. Lanez is reportedly due to make the move from LA County Jail to a prison, where he’ll serve the remainder of his decade-sentence, sometime this month.
