It looks like Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ breakup has reportedly turned nasty! In a shocking turn of events, the 27-year-old Game of Thrones star has reportedly filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband Joe Jonas. According to the New York Post, she took legal action in a Manhattan court on Thursday morning (September 21) with one specific request – the return of their two daughters to England.
The documents request “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.” In the lengthy legal docs, Turner notes that in April 2023, the family made England their “permanent home,” and regularly discussed plans to raise the kids in the UK and attend school. She claims they both felt it was safe for them to raise their children in England instead of the US. Although Joe had some “hesitation,” they agreed the kids would stay with Joe while the Jonas Bros toured the U.S., while she was busy shooting a “very intense,” time-consuming series. Per their alleged agreement in September, when she wrapped filming, she would return to New York, to “collect the children and return home to England.”
At some point, Jonas allegedly “refused to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.” As a result, Turner filed these legal docs in federal court, citing the Hague Convention which is an international treaty that deals with child abduction across country lines, TMZ notes.

The legal action comes just weeks after Jonas filed for divorce . As we previously reported, after four years of marriage, he ended their relationship by filing on September 5. The filing says “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
Amid all the news and speculation about their breakup, the two eventually released a joint statement saying, “After four years of wonderful marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
While it seemed like the former couple were on the same page, it appears they haven’t been.
According to the docs obtained by the news site, Turner alleges the breakdown of their marriage happened “very suddenly” after an argument on Aug. 15, with Jonas filing for divorce on Sept. 1. The actress shockingly revealed she learned about their split “from the media” days later.
