#Socialites, this is such a heartbreaking story. In Lake Elsinore, California, a 12-year-old boy, who was not dressed for gym class, collapsed and later died after his teacher forced him to run in extreme heat, said to be in the mid to high 90s.
It is reported that the child, Yahshua Robinson, collapsed and became unresponsive during his physical education class at Canyon Lake Middle School around 11 a.m. on Tuesday (August 29). The child’s family has since shared details of his tragic death with various news outlets and also via a GoFundMe page.
A crowdfunding campaign has been set up for “Yaya” by his aunt, Amarna Plummer, which at the time of publishing this article shows $73,350 raised of a $100,000 goal. In the description, it says that the child headed off to the school on Tuesday for a typical and fun-filled day; but things took a turn during his P.E. class.
Plummer says that the Robinson family’s 12-year-old son Yahshua collapsed and became unresponsive in the class, which Plummer says was due to the “sweltering heat” outside. They noted that when the child hit the floor, staff tried to treat him and eventually medical professionals were called upon, but tragically he would succumb to cardiac arrest at the hospital.
The child leaves behind his parents, Janae and Eric Robinson and their three other children. Plummer also says that while the family awaits the results of an autopsy, they have been “trying to come to terms with this devastating reality.” As they continue to mourn, they ask for support, “humbly asking for assistance to help alleviate the financial strain this sudden tragedy has placed upon the family.”

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the extreme heat was said to have included a temperature somewhere in the mid to high 90s; and sadly, according to the child’s aunt, he wasn’t even dressed appropriately for gym class. Subsequent to being unprepared, he was reportedly forced to run in the extreme heat, and that’s when other students noticed the boy started to become ill, before he later died.
Speaking with NBC Los Angeles, Plummer also said that after being forced to participate in gym class and quickly becoming dehydrated, the school staffer ignored him. Plummer said, “He was reaching out to the teacher, saying he needed some water. He said he couldn’t breathe. He was telling the kids this.”

Plummer said that her nephew’s condition got worse and he ended up passing out on the field at the school. When emergency responders arrived, they rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, where he was shortly pronounced dead, having suffered a cardiac arrest.
Plummer and the rest of Robinson’s family have been left devastated and with so many unanswered questions. Plummer demands to know why her nephew was forced to run in the heat despite not being dressed for gym. She asks, “Why would you have a child in his clothes – he didn’t dress out – running a field?” Plummer and the Robinson family are also demanding someone be held accountable for the child’s death.
The Lake Elsinore Unified School District released a statement, in part saying it was “saddened” to confirm the death “of one of our students due to a medical emergency at one of our LEUSD campuses.” They noted that grief counselors would be available for students and staff.
