Charlamagne Tha God Says Colin Kaepernick's Letter To Join NY Jets Practice Team Was 'Sad And Downright Pathetic'

Looks like Charlamagne Tha God wasn’t feeling Colin Kaepernick’s letter that J Cole shared to the public. On Tuesday, the rapper revealed that he asked Kaepernick if it was ok for him to post the letter. In the letter, the former NFL star was asking the New York Jets franchise to bring him on the practice team so he can get another shot at being in the league.

“Worst case scenario, you see what I have to offer and you’re not that impressed. Best case scenario, you realize you have a real weapon at your disposal in the event you ever need to use it,” Kaepernick wrote. “In either of these scenarios, I would be committed to getting your defense ready week in and week out, all season long, and I would wear that responsibility like a badge of honor.”

After the news surfaced on social media many of people have had mixed opinions about his letter, now Charlamagne Tha God has weighed in on viral topic while speaking on The Breakfast Club Wednesday morning. “I wish that letter was never written that letter was tragically sad and down right pathetic. Colin Kaepernick has let his set back become his identity and I hate that for him. God exalted Colin Kaepernick into a position of leadership in regards to activism and it pains me to see that man still begging in the league that he called racist and compared to a plantation. I hate that he can never speak for himself he always has somebody else speaking for him or putting out his messaging for him” Charlamagne said.

fter six and a half years of not being on field the former 49ers quarterback is still letting it be know that he’s trying to prove to the league that he has what it takes. During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the 35-year-old said that he’s still working out five to six days per week and that he’s holding out hope that at least one NFL team will give him chance to return. “I’m going to keep pushing,” Kaepernick said. “I’m going to keep fighting for it because I know I can step on the field and play. Every workout, every opportunity I’ve had to show that, the feedback has always been positive. Everything from, ‘he’s still an elite player,’ to ‘the workout was great; it was better than expected.’”

He also gave out a message to the NFL and told them to put their political thoughts about him to the side and just focus on his skills. “Obviously, there’s something else within this decision,” Kaepernick said of why he can’t even get a workout. “To me, that’s typically what it ends up being, or has been for the last seven years. So, I just want the opportunity to come in, show what I can do on the field. Judge me based upon that, not the political bias that you have.”

Since parting ways with the 49ers, the social justice advocate has gotten exactly zero offers and only one workout, which happened last year with the Las Vegas Raiders.
