In case you missed it, President Biden made headlines after attending the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s annual Legislative Conference over the weekend. While recognizing and praising “two of the great artists of our time,” he referred to LL Cool J as “LL J Cool J.” Now, things seem to have gotten worse for President Biden as he tried to correct himself. While struggling with his name, he went on to praise the rapper-actor even more. He said, “By the way, that boy has got…he’s got….man has got biceps bigger than my thighs.”
As many are aware, the term, “boy” has historical, racial connotations when used by a White person who is trying to refer to a Black man. While some online users believe Biden didn’t mean it in that way, other people like Breakfast Club host Charlamagne have slammed him over the gaffe.
During a recent episode of The Breakfast Club,
Charlamagne that God gave him “Donkey of the Day.” He said while on air, “Donkey of the Day for Monday, September 25th goes to the 46th President of the United States of America, Joe Biden,” he said. “A lot of people are upset that Joe Biden referred to LL Cool J as a ‘boy,’ as you can hear he corrected himself on the spot, you know why Joe Biden corrected himself because he’s 137 years old,” Charlamagne said. “He fully understands the word ‘boy’ in a racial context around a White man referring to a Black man as ‘boy,’ You see, ‘boy’ is absolutely a White racist word when used in a certain context.”
Furthermore, Charlamagne, 45, then blasted POTUS being simply being “inauthentic” in his praise of the hip-hop stars.
“This is a prime example of it doesn’t matter how many Black people you are around, it doesn’t matter how many Black people you have in your administration… If it’s not authentic to him, then it won’t come off as authentic to anyone. The fact that Joe Biden got LL’s name wrong, to begin with,” the radio host said. “Why did the audience laugh? They should have been correcting him on the spot.“
Speaking more on 80-year-old Prez, Charlamagne went on to say, “Joe Biden should not need a teleprompter to know there’s not two J’s in LL Cool J. Okay. LL Cool J is a man who has been rapping since President Joe Biden was my age.”
“LL Cool J has been white famous for at least 35 years. There’s not too many more recognizable celebrities on the planet. It’s not like Joe Biden was speaking on somebody relatively new, someone he wasn’t familiar with in any way, shape or form,” Charlamagne also said.
LL Cool J has not yet commented on President Biden’s slip-up and mistake on his name. Until then let us your thoughts on this in the comment box below!
