T.K. Kirkland Says He Doesn't Have A Problem With People Who Are Gay But Doesn't Think It Should Be Promoted

T.K. Kirkland has a lot to say about the LGBTQ community in his recent interview with Gloria Velez. In the clip the actor speaks about how he doesn’t have a problem with gay people, but he feels like it shouldn’t be promoted to the public.

“If you want to be gay, I think you should do whatever you want to do but you don’t have to promote it. I don’t come out saying, yo I was just f*cking this afternoon. I just think things need to go back to the way they were, handle your business. If that’s you then good for you, but it doesn’t have to be promoted. We don’t have to have Pride month, we don’t have to have parades, and we don’t have to have this stuff in the schools to lure the kids into thinking that it’s ok.”

He then goes on to speak on children transitioning to the opposite sex at a young age. “They’ll let their children do the sex changes, but you won’t let him do cocaine at a young age, or you won’t let them drive a car at a young age or alcohol so this should be the same responsibility that you apply once they get pass 21. After I raise you and that’s your choice then I have to respect that.”

As we previously reported, Neyo was in a similar debate when he questioned whether minors should be allowed to receive gender-affirming care. “I have no problem with LBGT… I have no problem with nobody, okay? Love who you love, do what you do,” Ne-Yo prefaced his stance. “I just personally come from an era where a man was a man and a woman was a woman. And there was two genders and that’s just how I rocked.”

He continued, “You could identify as a goldfish if you feel like, I don’t care, that ain’t my business. It becomes my business when you try to make me play the game. I’m not gonna call you a goldfish. But you wanna be a goldfish, you be a goldfish.”

Velez and Ne-Yo then segued into a berating social media culture, trigger warnings, and other ways in which the world has become “so sensitive.” He noted that “we live in a weird time” and complained that “comedians can’t tell jokes no more,” before circling back to his stance on transgender-identifying children.

“I feel like parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is. If your little boy comes to you and says, ‘Daddy, I want to be a girl.’ And you just let him rock with that?” Ne-Yo continued, “if you let this 5-year-old little boy eat candy all day, he’s gonna do that. Like, when did it become a good idea to let a 5-year-old, let a 6-year-old, let a 12-year-old make a life-changing decision for themselves? When did that happen? Like, I don’t understand that.”

Later the singer added, “He can’t drive a car yet, but he can decide his sex?”
