Previously, we reported that Patricia Krentcil, the infamous “Tan Mom” from New Jersey who loves all things bronzed, had decided to drop her tanning goggles and enter the U.S. Senate race in the Sunshine State of Florida. Now, Krentcil has released her first Florida Senate campaign ad and she is fighting for healthcare and drag queens.

If you’re unfamiliar with who Patricia Krentcil is, here’s a quick reminder. She initially gained national attention in 2012 after taking her then-6-year-old daughter with her into a tanning salon bed. Subsequently, she was charged with child endangerment. She was later acquitted and has since been using her platform to focus on LGBTQIA+ rights.

Last week, Krentcil revealed she was ready to leave the tanning beds behind and head into the world of politics, challenging incumbent Republican Senator Rick Scott. On Monday (August 14), the “Tan Mom” sensation filed all the necessary paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission to make herself eligible for the upcoming 2024 elections.

And if you thought the 51-year-old was doing this all just for play, her actions prove otherwise. Upon hitting up the FEC offices, the single mother of five launched her senate campaign website, noting that she is running as Republican based out of Boca Raton.

Krentcil even spoke with TMZ about her new political ambitions, she said, “I know that I am different. And I have suffered for it. But us all being different is what makes this country so amazing and unique.”

Since announcing that she is running for the U.S. Senate in Florida, Krentcil has now released her first official senate campaign video, obtained by TMZ. Including in her list of issues that she is looking to fix, Krentcil eyes healthcare, fighting for drag queens, and in general, she looks to have compassion for all of her fellow Americans.

Krentcil also reassures her Florida voters and lets them know that she has evolved quite a lot over the past decade, like many people in the country. She speaks on losing her husband to cancer, and how being in a medically induced coma put a lot of things into perspective for her, especially when it comes to the Medicare and Medicaid struggles of millions of Americans.

For background: in 2013, Krentcil checked herself into rehab for alcohol abuse , and in 2019, the heavy smoker was hospitalized for pneumonia and placed in a medically induced coma.

Krentcil also believes she is more than qualified to address the nation’s greatest issues as a single mother of five, who grew up in a divided country. Among a plethora of issues she expects to address is LGBTQIA+ equality. She is not only fighting for rights for drag queens, but also wishes to bring diversity back to the classrooms.

She further claims that she knows what it is like to look different, and that drag queens should not be targeted nor harassed for simply being who they are. Krentcil even adds that drag queens can be looked at as wonderful role models for the youth.
