As previously reported, Luke Valentine, the ex-contestant on the reality TV show ‘Big Brother’, shocked viewers with an unfortunate slip of the tongue, using a racial slur during a conversation with his housemates. However, while trying to take responsibility for his actions, Valentine is seemingly attributing it to a lack of sleep and food.

He initially broke his silence on the viral moment that got him kicked off the show on Sunday. He posted a series of Instagram Stories videos where he shared a message to his followers. “Hey, guys. Just letting you know, I’m alive, I’ve arrived, and, uh, you gotta keep the flames stoked until next time.” Be added, “We can’t burn out, no, no, no. The fires of love will continue to burn, baby. So thank you for all the memes, thank you for all the support, the kind words.”

In a new IG Live video that was posted Wednesday, Mr. Luke tried to provide an explanation for his little accident. He said, “Anyone who watches the clip of me saying the cheese room comment, it’s pretty clear that I meant no malice. It’s pretty clear that I had no ill intent.” He went on to say, “It was after about eight hours… or about a week of malnutrition, a week of sleep deprivation; I was probably getting about two and a half hours of sleep on that cheese block. You don’t really take into account the physiological stress of being under studio lighting 24/7 and not knowing who your friends are and your enemies are.” Luke added, “What happened, happened.”

Recap Of What Happened

It all happened during a conversation with fellow contestants Jared Fields, Cory Wurtenberger, and Hisam Goueli. While chatting, Valentine was heard casually saying the slur at the end of a statement. Although he quickly caught himself and covered his mouth, he tried his best to correct his comment with the word “dude.” CBS explained to Variety that “Luke violated the ‘Big Brother’ code of conduct and there is zero tolerance in the house for using a racial slur. He was later removed from the house.

CBS and Big Brother issued a statement saying, “Luke violated the Big Brother code of conduct and there is zero tolerance in the house for using a racial slur. He has been removed from the house.“ During the following episode of the CBS reality show, host Julie Chen Moonves announced Valentine’s exit, saying the cast learned their fellow houseguest had been evicted the night prior.

Luke said during his Live that he ultimately “regrets” what he said, “obviously,” but feels like it “happened for a reason.” As for production, he says he has no hard feelings towards the team for booting him off the show.
