If transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney hasn’t found herself in enough controversy this past month, she is now going viral yet again over a resurfaced video where she said it should be illegal to use the wrong pronouns on people.

In the TikTok video, originally posted back in October 2022, the 26-year-old sounded off on her thoughts about journalists who had been referring to her using he/him pronouns, which Mulvaney was clearly offended about. She titled the TikTok video with the words “Adult Bullies” while addressing the hate that has come her way after gaining a lot of popularity online.

Mulvaney, who recently partnered up with Nike for an endorsement deal, called out the unidentified journalists who she was upset over because they had called her a “man” even though she identifies as a female.

“Like, the articles written about me using ‘he’ pronouns and calling me a man over and over again, I feel like that should be illegal. I don’t know, that’s just bad journalism,” she said. Furthermore, Mulvaney said being misgendered in articles about her was worse than the derogatory terms people have used against her by calling her a “pedophile.”

“I’m reminding myself that those people actually feel like they’re doing the Lord’s work,” she went on to express in a passionate tone. “They believe that their bullying actually is the right thing to do, and I’m the one to blame when I’m just over here trying to live my best life.” As we previously reported, Mulvaney caused outrage from Bud Light fans after the firm partnered with her for their latest campaign, causing its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, value to drop by $5 billion within days following the announcement.

The controversy surrounding Dylan Mulvaney began when Nike released an advertisement that featured the transgender athlete. In the ad, Mulvaney talks about his journey as a transgender man and the challenges he has faced in his pursuit of athletic excellence. The ad was part of Nike’s “Be True” campaign, which aims to promote inclusivity and diversity in sports.

While many praised the ad for its positive representation of the transgender community, it also sparked a backlash from some who felt that Nike was promoting “transgenderism” and “destroying traditional gender roles.” The backlash was particularly intense on social media, where users shared their opinions using hashtags like #BoycottNike and #NikeHatesFamilies.

Nike played a crucial role in the Dylan Mulvaney controversy, both in terms of the ad itself and its response to the backlash. The ad, which was released earlier this year, was part of Nike’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity and diversity in sports.

However, despite the positive message of the ad, it was met with a significant backlash from some who felt that Nike was promoting an “agenda” and “forcing” transgender ideology on the public. Nike, for its part, responded to the backlash by defending the ad and its message. In a statement, the company said that it “stands for the principles of inclusion and respect” and that it is “proud to support the LGBTQ+ community.”
