A London-based TikToker left a grocery store feeling overwhelmed with emotions after several people rejected her offer to pay for their groceries.

Amelia Goldsmith went to a local Sainsbury’s store to pay for a stranger’s groceries and said she wanted to ” cheer someone up.” In the video, she was nervous about approaching strangers in the store and hoped no one would think she was weird while walking around. According to Insider, Goldsmith’s efforts failed as she was rejected by every person she approached and said she felt overwhelmed by the entire experience.
“That was really stressful.I was expecting the first person to be like, overjoyed and grateful and happy for me to pay for their shopping, but obviously that didn’t go down well,” she explained. Goldsmith added that people were also shocked by her offer, and one woman even told her that there were “a lot more deserving people in the world.”

Ultimately, Goldsmith decided to buy various kinds of pasta and sauces to put in the store’s food bank container and called the experience a “weird turnout.” She said she was happy that the food would go to people needing food and other goods. The video has over 700,000 views, and other TikTokers shared their opinion about the charitable gesture.
One user wrote, “I feel that sharing your good deeds online is more about serving your ego than others. Good on you for donating to the food bank.” Others also explained that the neighborhood consists of main middle and upper-middle-class families.
“Such a lovely gesture. But advice would not to be to go to Balham… where most people live in £1m+ houses.”
Some believe filming the experience was unnecessary as it should be done out of pure intentions rather than for clout and views on TikTok.
“kind gesture, but good deeds don’t have to be recorded. Go to lower income areas, people with children etc would likely really need the help.”
Sounds like she went to a grocery store in a middle-upper class neighborhood. Either that, or people were sensing she wasn't doing it to help, but to get more views.https://t.co/JKUny3DUkE

Maybe it had something to do with you clout chasing by trying to film your good deed? No need to film & broadcast your good deeds… https://t.co/dRAdCFhmUI

Maybe stop trying to catch it on video for clout and just do it because you can. Also maybe don’t go to a wealthy area and wonder why they don’t need your help. https://t.co/M1TJtXJpGR

Goldsmith noted that the experience was a bit nerve-wracking, for she experiences difficult social situations.
