The man has been since identified as 50-year-old Christopher Faran Stanford, of Weatherford. And when asked by a jury about how he racked up 9 charges of the same crime, he claims that he was “very unlucky,” rather than being irresponsible for driving under the influence, let alone having an alcohol problem.

As for his latest DWI charge, it dates back to August 15, 2022, when Stanford was driving intoxicated and crashed at the intersection of FM 51 and SH 171, which sits just south of Weatherford.

Investigators learned that Stanford’s car had sped through a red light and rear ended another vehicle on the road. Upon crashing his car, Stanford fled the scene on foot. Investigators claim that he reportedly told the other driver involved in the crash that he had to leave quick because he was going to get in trouble.

About 30 minutes after the car crash, Stanford was discovered with ripped jeans and shirt, having jumped over a barbed wire fence during his escape.

Local authorities also claimed that he tried to headbutt and emergency first responder who was trying to help treat his injuries. Upon being arrested, police discovered that Stanford’s blood alcohol concentration level was 0.267, which is more than three times the legal limit.

It is reported that after pleading guilty to a felony driving while intoxicated charge, Stanford chose to have a Parker County jury give him a punishment of life in prison. After his 15th year served, Stanford will be eligible for parole, but again once his time is served, plus his good time credit.

However, the final decision on getting released is completely up to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Meanwhile, per the Parker County District Attorney’s Office, Stanford had previously been sentenced four times to prison for his DWI charges in Dallas, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Johnson counties. Per Parker County DA Jeff Swain, “His record showed that he was going to continue endangering communities throughout the Metroplex unless he was locked up.”
