Swizz Beatz is opening up about a past health scare when doctors told him that he would never walk again. He said, “I was over-pushing it. I messed up my immune and had spinal meningitis.”

Swizz Beatz Recalls Past Health Scare When Doctors Told Him He Would Never Walk Again: ‘I Over-Pushed It And Had Spinal Meningitis’
While recently sitting down with singer Jennifer Hudson on her daytime talk show ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ on Tuesday (April 25), Swizz Beatz, born Kasseem Dean, recalled the scary moment he was told that he would never walk again.
During the portion of the interview where Swizz opened up about the incident that happened early-on in his career, JHud brought up the terrifying moment and questioned him, “I never knew you had a bad health scare, like years ago. What happened?”
The rapper and super producer told the Oscar-winning host, “Yeah, [I] was going too hard. When you come from nothing, and you finally get success, and you finally get a piece of what you thought you never [could] get from your surroundings — we just have a habit of just going hard as men, and as women, and it caught up to me. I remember staying up for four days straight just over-pushing it. It messed up my immune system and I had spinal meningitis.”
Swizz continued, “And I remember going to the hospital, and the doctor was cold. He was cold as ice. Soon as I walked in he said, ‘Okay. You might not die, but you definitely can’t walk again.’ That was the first thing they said when I went into the hospital. But, I was in so much pain that I was like, “Okay. Let’s get onto it.’ But, Alhamdulillah [Praise be to Allah [God]], I learned how to walk again. I came back, and I beat the odds with that one. And now, I try to take my health a little bit more serious. Like, all of you guys out there as well.”
JHud added in, “Yes. Well, we will prayer for you.

Aside from opening up about his bout with spinal meningitis, the super producer has been in great spirits as of late. Last Monday evening (April 24), Swizz hosted an album release party for his newest project, ‘Hip Hop 50: Vol 2.’ The event took place at Veronika/Fotografiska NYC.
It is reported that the new project is the second installment in a series that follows the first project entirely produced by DJ Premier.
