Whew! One woman wanted her reparations and she wanted it NOW! Shocking video footage that has been shared with the public shows the wild moment a Target security guard punches a woman in the face after she allegedly demanded her $1,000 grocery bill be paid by the store in “reparations.” The incident reportedly happened in October at the megastore in Blue Ash, Ohio.
It all started when customer Karen Ivery asked a cashier for their manager regarding the bill and reparations. Cops say at one point she grew angry as she walked “aggressively” toward the manager while making the demand. “Ivery kept berating her about reparations and her privileged life,” the report alleges.
As things got more intense, Zach Cotter, a loss prevention officer, intervened and asked Ivery to calm down and leave the store, according to the report. However, that infuriated her even more and she then allegedly began screaming at Cotter and followed him into his office.
It was said that Cotter tried to shut the door, but Ivery allegedly forced her way in. That’s when Cotter shockingly threw a punch, according to the report. Cotter then called the police, who reviewed the footage and determined that he acted in self-defense and Ivery was the “aggressor.”
Shortly after, she was placed under arrest. “Ivery was confrontational with officers on the scene and didn’t want to explain her actions,” the report states. It was said that Ivery also told police she wanted to have a larger conversation about “how money works” and “how it’s been working in our community in a very wrong way.” She reportedly added, “This is my Rosa Parks moment.”
As a result of their alleged crime, Ivery was sentenced to a day in jail and charged $110 for disorderly conduct, according to the Daily Mail reported. So far, a target spokesperson has not yet commented publicly on the incident.

Reparations have been a big topic that has sparked heated debate in recent years. It involves a government entity or other institution providing money or funding to Black people who are either descendants of slaves or marginalized in another way.
There has also been a lot of discussion about how much money should be given to Black residents and whether or not it is feasible for cities to fund this. It has been heard that San Francisco lawmakers have backed a proposal to provide reparations to its Black residents in response to the racial inequality and racist treatment that they have experienced.
The supervisors of San Francisco are now discussing the question of paying reparations and how this should be done.
A recent survey shed light on how Detroiters perceive reparations, with 86% of Black people agreeing that members of their community should receive them. On Tuesday, agree members of the city council approved the formation of an advisory committee that will be tasked with exploring various options for providing reparations for Detroit’s black residents.
