Rapper Nipsey Hussle’s Convicted Killer, Eric Holder, To Be Sentenced Today

Eric R. Holder Jr., the man convicted of murdering rapper Nipsey Hussle in 2019 will be sentenced this Wednesday and is likely to get life in prison.

As we previously reported, Nipsey was shot and killed outside his own South LA clothing store on March 31, 2019, in a calculated, premeditated fashion by Holder who was upset over a discussion about snitching.

Back in July, jurors found the 32-year-old criminal guilty of first-degree murder of the 33-year-old rap star. Holder was also convicted of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and two counts of assault with a firearm for gunfire that hit two other men at the crime scene.

There was tons of evidence against Holder that was presented during court. From eyewitnesses to surveillance cameras and local businesses that captured Holder’s arrival, him carrying out the shooting and his departure. His sentencing was originally scheduled for September but postponed at the request of the defense. This is expected to soon come to an after more than three years and a trial that was often delayed because of the pandemic.

“We hope that there is some resounding peace in the fact that his killer will be in prison likely for the rest of his life,” the lead prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney John McKinney previously said.

As the Associated Press notes, Nipsey stylist Lauren London, who was Hussle’s partner and the mother of his two young children, did not attend any part of the trial, nor did any of his relatives. Neither of them are expected to give victim impact statements, as often happens at such hearings.

In a July 2022 interview with Angie Martinez, Lauren London spoke about healing, therapy, and dealing with the death of Nipsey Hussle.

“I want to move all the time, I just know it’s not the right time for my family,” she said. “I love L.A. It’s tattooed on me. To the death of me, I love L.A., but it’s too heavy for me right now.” London also added she’d move to the desert if she could get away from it all. London went on to say that she’s not leaving the West Coast, at least not for now. “I’m staying put right now, and then I just don’t think it’s like a good time for the rest of our family that loves us and wants to make sure they have a close eye on us.”
