Whew! #Socialites, get into this! Cristiano Ronaldo’s controversial Manchester United exit, the soccer star has announced joined the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
The team announced the big news on social media Friday: “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC,” the club tweeted a picture of Ronaldo holding up a yellow No. 7.
According to reports, agreed to join the team all the way up to the summer of 2025 and, according to reports, he will reportedly receive $75 million per year to make him the highest-paid player in history. Ronaldo, who left Manchester United a week after claiming he felt betrayed by the club, said in Al-Nassr’s statement announcing the deal: “I am excited to experience a new football league in a different country.” He continued,
“The vision of what Al Nassr are doing and developing in Saudi Arabia both in terms of men’s and women’s football is very inspiring. We can see from Saudi Arabia’s recent performance at the World Cup that this is a country with big football ambitions and a lot of potential.
“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia. I am looking forward to joining my new teammates and together with them help the Club to achieve success.”
More On His Manchester Departure
Ronaldo had rejoined Manchester United from Juventus for a second spell at Old Trafford in August 2021 on a two-year deal, returning to the club where he won eight major trophies from 2003-2009. Although he enjoyed his time there,
for the most part, he said in a recent interview that the club betrayed him and he is being forced out, while he has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag. “Some people don’t want me here, not just this year, but last year too,” he said at the time.
Despite that, clearly he didn’t waste anytime finding a new team.
