Four suspects have been charged following last week’s bizarre shooting at a Mall of America in Minnesota. According to CBS Minnesota, 18-year-old Taeshawn Adams-Wright has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree assault over the senseless crime on December 23 which killed 19-year-old Johntae Hudson. Two 17-year-old teenagers, whose identity remains unknown, were charged with second-degree riot while a fourth person also faced second-degree murder charges, though cops are still said to be on the hunt for the teen.
According to Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodgers, two other suspects, who were arrested shortly after the incident, were not given any charges since they have both refused to cooperate amid the ongoing investigation. As per the police report, a dispute between two groups of men broke out at the mall which quickly escalated to gunfire as petrified shoppers tried to flee from the chaotic altercation.

Johntae was reportedly shot eight times and was pronounced dead in the men’s section of Nordstrom after paramedics had desperately tried to save his life. The mall was placed on lockdown as police launched their investigation, having recovered cartridge casings near the victim’s body, as well as a .40 caliber gun, which cops believe belonged to Johntae.
Given that there have been several people who opted not to cooperate with police, law enforcement officials say they are far from finished with the case. “This continues to be an active investigation, and we expect additional arrests and criminal charges associated with this case in the near future,” Booker continued. “Our detectives continue to work tirelessly on this case.”
“Their job is made more difficult because those involved have been, and continue to be, uncooperative. Despite this, our efforts to lock up everyone responsible for this incident will not cease.”
Johntae Raymon Hudson, 19, was fatally shot Friday at the Mall of America in Minnesota. He was there to find a sweater to wear to a friend’s birthday that night. Sixteen armed officers stationed at the mall were unable to stop the shootout among teens. https://t.co/fqXLITYDgd

Some of the crucial details that police are still trying to make sense of are who started the shootout and what exactly led to the point that two groups of teens would suddenly shoot at one another over an argument. It remains unclear what the dispute was about.
Furthermore, the metal detectors at the mall were apparently not working in the lead-up to the shooting, spokesperson Laura Utecht revealed, though it was stressed that new security measures would come into effect immediately to avoid a homicide of this sort from ever happening there again.
