Wendy Williams and her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s relationship has reportedly been non-existent ever since the former talk show host left rehab last month. According to The Sun, the 22-year-old and his mom have not been on speaking terms, which may come as a surprise since Kevin and Wendy regularly spoke throughout her stay at a Malibu treatment center where she sought help for her substance abuse.
“Wendy has not reached out to her son since she left the rehab. While she was in treatment, they were talking but the minute she got out the communication stopped,” a source told the British news publication, adding that the situation has weighed heavy on Kevin Jr., who is focusing on finishing his final year of school. But it appears the family drama back home has affected him to the point where it’s become a “challenge” to stay on top of things.
“Kevin has been through hell this year with everything going on with his mom. It breaks his heart that things seemed to be going well while she was in rehab.” It’s believed that Kevin Jr. was the one who convinced Wendy to go to rehab, to begin with, having reportedly given her an ultimatum that if she didn’t get help, he didn’t know whether he could continue being in her life.
This comes just months after Wendy’s brother, Tommy Williams, admitted to the claims that she and her son had not been on the best of terms for quite some time. When the ex-radio personality celebrated her birthday back in July, Tommy alleges that his sister refused to invite Kevin Jr. up to her New York penthouse, despite the fact he had traveled all the way from Florida to be with her.
“Her son is up there to spend what could be monumental time with his mother, that is if she opens the door,” he shared. “She is not our celebrity. She’s not the family celebrity. She’s a member and she has her son out there like he’s the paparazzi.”

Wendy is currently working on making her return to the limelight with the forthcoming launch of her very own podcast, which has yet to be given a release date.
