Watch the Moment a Fleeing Dirt Bike Rider Refuels Tank Twice — And Still Doesn’t Get Away

Welp, you didn’t have to turn to a movie channel to some action this week. What started as a routine call about a man reportedly waving a gun in public turned into an hour long pursuit that was all captured live on the news.

The chase kicked off around 5:45 p.m. near Dodger Stadium and rolled through the streets before winding up in the Green Meadows neighborhood of South LA nearly an hour later. In between, the suspect turned the 405 corridor into his own personal obstacle course, weaving through South Los Angeles, Watts and Compton like he had somewhere important to be. He wasn’t even wearing a helmet the whole time, and at one point he was riding one-handed while holding a cell phone to his ear, cruising through rush hour traffic like it was nothing.

As intense things were getting, dude made a pit stop at a gas station, but when he failed to load up, he then tolled straight into a park where somebody had a jug of gas waiting for him…

He grabbed the jug, started pouring fuel into the bike while a police cruiser sat right behind him, and once enough gas hit the tank, he took off again.

An ABC7 helicopter reporter following the whole thing said he’d never witnessed anything like it in his years covering pursuits.

Eventually, the bike ran dry for good. With nowhere left to go, the suspect ditched it in an Inglewood neighborhood near 111th Place and took off running on foot, hopping fences and cutting through backyards with officers right behind him. It didn’t take long for it to end the way most of these end… he tried to hide inside a recycling trash can, but police found him and took him into custody at gunpoint.

As of now, police haven’t released the suspect’s identity or confirmed exactly what led to the original call about a firearm.
