OMG! Serayah Announces Split From Fiancé Joey Bada$$, Reveals “Repeated Infidelity” Throughout Their Relationship

Another celebrity couple has called it quits and this one we did not expect coming! Serayah, the Empire alum, who’s been engaged to Brooklyn rapper Joey Badass and shares her one-year-old son with him, dropped a lengthy and elegantly worded statement announcing the end of their engagement.
She started by explaining, “There comes a point in a woman’s life when choosing herself is no longer an option, it becomes necessary…”
From there, Serayah got straight into it. She confirmed the split plainly, writing, “After much thought, I have made the difficult decision to end my engagement and relationship with the father of my child, Joey.”
The singer and actress didn’t dance around what led her here. In her words: “Unfortunately, I also had to face a painful truth: there had been repeated infidelity throughout our relationship, including during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of my life.” Of course, fans are already connecting that to her pregnancy and early motherhood, and if that’s what she’s alluding to, it’s a lot to sit with.
What’s standing out to a lot of people, though, is the tone. Serayah made it clear she wasn’t posting for sympathy or to drag anybody through the mud: “I share this not for sympathy, retaliation, or to publicly tear anyone down. I share it because too many women are taught to question themselves before they question what is happening right in front of them.”
In a message to other women, she added:
“If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, listen to it. Don’t make yourself smaller to keep someone else comfortable. Don’t compromise your values because you’re afraid of losing the future you imagined. And don’t allow someone else’s choices to become a referendum on your worth.”
She concluded by saying that she’ll always respect that she and Joey share a child together, and that her focus now is his peace:
“I will always respect the fact that we share a beautiful son, and my priority will be protecting his peace, privacy and relationship with both of his parents. For that reason, I won’t be discussing the intimate details of our relationship publicly beyond what I have shared here. This chapter did not end the way I prayed it would. But endings can also be beginnings.”

Serayah and Joey Bada$$ first crossed paths in 2021 at a mutual friend’s birthday party on a boat, though they didn’t officially become a couple until 2023, going public that summer around her 28th birthday. She revealed she was expecting their first child in February 2025 while walking the runway at Adore Me’s New York Fashion Week show, and got engaged that following May, with fans first spotting the ring in a TikTok she posted.
The couple welcomed their baby boy in June 2025, completing the whirlwind from boat-party strangers to fiancés and parents in under four years.
Interestingly enough, on “The Jason Lee Show,” Serayah opened up about her past relationships why she finally stopped settling in love, telling Jason Lee she’s reached a point where she needs full alignment with a partner or she’s out, “And if we’re not on the same page, then I need to exit,” she said, reflecting the same clarity she’s carried into motherhood and this new chapter of her life.
As of right now, Joey Bada$$ has not responded publicly. Serayah’s comments are already flooded with support, with several fans and fellow celebs sending love and applauding her for how she handled it. We’ll update as this develops — but for now, all eyes are on whether Joey breaks his silence.
